Legal Aid Agency Statement

The Legal Aid Agency has been impacted by a cyber attack which the Legal Aid Agency believes has compromised personal data from those who applied for legal aid through the Legal Aid Agency’s digital service since 2020. The data may have included contact details and addresses of applicants, their dates of birth, national ID numbers, criminal history, employment status and financial data such as contribution amounts, debts and payments.

The breach relates to the Legal Aid Agency’s systems and the Legal Aid Agency has put contingency measures in place while it continues to assess the impact of the breach.

In the circumstances, it is important to take all reasonable precautions with your own data and to remain vigilant. Be alert to suspicious calls, messages or activity. Please update passwords for any affected accounts and always verify identity before sharing information.
